Leasing Assistant - North Pointe/Clayton Heights 



Job Summary

The leasing assistant reports to the property manager of a 172-unit rental residential neighborhood. Responsibilities include the following: perform background checks and landlord reference checks on applicants; conduct orientation for all new residents to explain lease terms and tenant obligations under the lease; understand and enforce North Pointe/Clayton Heights policies and procedures; accurately calculate the resident’s family income; collect rent, prepare bank deposits, and maintain accurate collection records; implement and enforce all U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) rules and regulations. The leasing assistant will also work closely with the property manager to schedule, notify, and conduct annual and interim recertification of residents, as required. Other duties are to be performed as assigned.

This full-time position is temporary, with the potential to transition to a permanent position. The hired individual will be evaluated after three months on the job, and a determination regarding continued employment will be made at that time.

Minimum Requirements

Two years experience in property management or related work environment and a valid driver’s license are required. Post-secondary education is a plus. Experience with Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) properties would be an asset. Applicant should have experience demonstrating the ability to work with diverse populations.

Job Responsibilities

Use word processing and occupancy software, specifically Word, Excel, and YARDI

  • Maintain resident accounts receivable ledgers under supervision
  • Prepare and process work orders
  • Maintain professional relationship with vendors, residents, and coworkers
  • Work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Work well with special needs population
  • Interview potential residents and assist in leasing process
